HI everyone, thanks for your really helpful ideas. Sorry it's taken me such
a long time to write and thank you all, I was hoping to have another session
with this gentleman first so that I could let you know how it went, but Ive
been unable to meet with him as Ive been away and then he's recently been
granted escorted visits to the community and so has been out a lot! Your
comments have really helped me think though about how I can manage to help
the individual whilst still managing to meet the needs of the service.
Working in this setting sometimes feels like i'm trying to push a square peg
(me!) into a round hole (the service!) and i'm beginning to realise that
sometimes it's more helpful to stop pushing, accept that there's not going
to be an exact match and find some way to compromise! I think that clients
often feel like that too, when they're being asked to do work like this, so
we often end up feeling as stuck as each other!
