Hi Steve,
I tend to think the support group is about BACP accreditation at the moment and those in the process of doing that.
The accreditation committee, in my opinion is about looking at things like codes of practice and accreditation on an organisational (uksafp) level to cover all members - I don't neccessarily think both need to be linked at this stage. The accreditation peeps see all these emails anyway and updates of what is going on will be fed back to members.
But thats just my thoughts, others may feel differently, Cheers Allison

Hi Steve
I think it is really great that members are keen to go for external accreditation with BACP. It's a good system. Excellent organisation too.
However, other professional bodies, even ones smaller that UKASP (they do exist), have put their energies into accrediting their own members. Although BACP Accreditation may be important, once professional bodies have sorted themselves out, they have joined the UKCP and their members have become UKCP Registered via their own professional body accreditation system. Thus the accreditation criteria is set up for their own particular approach instead of generic criteria which can cause problems with approaches such as CBT and SFT.
I think full steam ahead on our own accreditation system and the accreditation committee preferably should focus on that 100% and not be distracted by BACP accreditation issues which will become less relevant once we have own accreditation system. I would be disappointed if the committee got sidetracked. Perhaps even consider joining the UKCP. Just a thought!!
Best wishes
Stephen
