Dear West Midlanders, I wanted to suggest that we come up with a date for a first meeting in Birmingham but now don't know if this is the right place to do that. If anyone wants to talk I can be contacted via j.collins@open.ac.uk or 01212469429.
Now I have probably broken at least 2 rules which, as a very new member, I didn't know about. Oh well.....
I am just starting to find out about SFBT thanks to BRIEF and I would love to hear about people's practice and particularly what to say to a 14 year old mentee I am working with who's ideal future would be for his school to burn down.
I hope to meet some of you soon. All the best, Janet )

hi
For a lot of young people this would be an ideal solution try working with it ie so what would be different what would they be doing and then what? What would others be doing? When is some of this happening?
You could also ask what their goal is and what they need to get there and try to identify things that school can do to help even if its small like learning to add things up research etc making school a more positive exps
I am sure you will get loads of othr ideas from the forum- good luck
wendy

I hope you're going to post an update for us - we're all dying to know whether the school ends up burnt down or not!
