About Barry Winbolt
Barry Winbolt a SF prctitioner, trainer, consultant and writer. The latest, Solution Focused Brief Therapy for the Helping Professions was published in in December 2010 by Jessica Kingsley Publishers.
For more than 25 years he has advised people in many cultures on how to improve their working relationships and enhance the quality of their lives. Over the same period he has provided Solution Focused training in SFBT, SF conflict resolution , communication skills, workplace mediation and related topics.
He has worked with individuals, teams and larger groups to develop new ways of approaching persistent problems. As a presenter he is known for his engaging, dynamic and approachable style, and his ability to deliver a serious message in an accessible way.
His presentations are enlivened by his irreverent humour, illustrative anecdotes, and infectious enthusiasm for his subject. He is a regular presenter at conferences in the UK, Europe and the USA, and over 200,000 people have attended his acclaimed seminars on How to Deal with Difficult People, Anger management, and Conflict Resolution.
He also provides highly engaging workshops on Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Single Session Therapy, and has recently developed a range of innovative personal development workshops and retreats in the natural environment of East Sussex.
Until 2011 Barry was Chair of Conflict Resolution at the Institute of Family Therapy in London, and Programme Coordinator for both the Graduate Certificate and the MSc in Conflict Resolution and Mediation Studies at Birkbeck College, University of London. In 2003, following the sale of Lifeboat Training, a company he had set up and run, he became Head of Training and Clinical Development at PPC Worldwide, based in Oxford until 2008, when he chose to work freelance, following bereavement. He is an accredited mediator and a psychotherapist, based in East Sussex. He travels widely in his work and is a fluent French speaker.
