Questions to ask if commissioning training
To the trainer(s)
  1. Is the trainer insured to deliver training?
  2. Can you get a written quote before the training is booked?
  3. What are the qualifications and/or experience of the trainer?
  4. Can you obtain details of previous training carried out?
  5. Does the trainer belong to any professional bodies?
  6. Will you see an agenda before the event?
  7. Will an evaluation of training be carried out?
For yourself
  1. Are you clear about desired outcomes?
  2. Do you know what materials/resources the trainer(s) require such as; PowerPoint, IT support, room size etc.
  3. Are all prospective participants aware of the agenda and outcomes for the training event?
  4. Are prospective participants volunteers on the course or mandated?
  5. Is the course/training stand alone, or is there a plan to implement and follow up?
  6. Have you informed the trainer(s) of any special requirements for participants on the course(s)?
  7. What happens if you have to cancel the event(s) at short notice, i.e. Charges?
  8. Are you clear about charges and payment terms (including travel and other expenses)?
  9. Will participants be getting formal acknowledgement (i.e. certificates) for use in CPD?
